Recognizing the importance of maintaining the large fish populations at Misaw, we adhere to a strict catch and release policy, ensuring an outstanding fishing experience for guests from around the globe for years to come. We require that all northern pike and lake trout over 26 inches be released; ALL Arctic grayling must be released. Some northern pike and lake trout of eating size (26 inches and under) may be kept for shore lunch.
Misaw Lake Lodge is one of only a few operations that asks anglers to use a single barbless hook (per lure). This ensures a quick release without damaging the vital gills, etc. Please refrain from vertical holds for photos or measurements, also helping to ensure the release of a healthy fish. These policies have been adhered to at Misaw Lake Lodge for over the last 20 years and are the reason these fish will continue to flourish and grow for future generations.
Feel free to talk to your guide or any of the staff regarding proper handling techniques.
