There is no need to bring your own fishing tackle. Many guests like the convenience of using our fishing equipment during their stay. We offer custom rods and top-notch reels at no extra charge! All you need to do is let us know prior to your trip and we’ll ensure your rods and reels are set up and a tackle box is ready to go. Please note there will be a fee charged for all damaged or lost equipment.
We highly recommend using our equipment due to travel restrictions on weight and size, but for those who plan to bring their own fishing equipment to Misaw Lake Lodge, we’ve put together a list of recommended equipment. Please do not hesitate to call us if you have any questions.

All lures must be single barbless hooks. Our guides can change them over for you if needed.
Recognizing the importance of maintaining the large fish populations at Misaw, we adhere to a strict catch and release policy, ensuring an outstanding fishing experience for guests from around the globe for years to come. We require that all northern pike and lake trout over 26 inches be released; ALL Arctic grayling must be released. Some northern pike and lake trout of eating size (26 inches and under) may be kept for shore lunch.
In order to maintain survival rates, Misaw Lake Lodge requires single barbless hooks to be used for all fishing. This ensures a quick release without damaging the vital gills, etc. Please refrain from vertical holds for photos or measurements, also helping to ensure the release of a healthy fish. These policies have been adhered to at Misaw Lake Lodge for over the last 20 years and are the reason these fish will continue to flourish and grow for future generations.
Feel free to talk to your guide or any of the staff regarding proper handling techniques.
